Towel Stand
An elegant Edo Period stand used by the Daimyo of the Ikeda family in Okayama. The family crest is in gold on black lacquer.

Inrou
In the Edo Period, people kept their medicine in small Inrou, hung from their waist. A decorative medallion, set in bone or ivory, was attached to the cord.



Inrou A
This flawless Inrou is an interesting golden beauty made by Kyuhaku Koman in the Edo era. On one side, a horseman stands while riding a black horse. On the other, a horseman does a handstand on a red horse. Inside, there are 4 "boxes" or compartments. Fu Dog medallion. This treasure is a rare find, indeed.

Inrou B
A traditional pine and sakura wood Inrou, special black lacquer medicine holder contains six "boxes," or compartments. Emblazoned on this hand-crafted artifact is a Kiku makie design. Made by Kajikawa, medallion is a picture of a Noh actor.
